Juan M. Rodriguez-Poo is a Professor of Econometrics at the Department of Economics of the University of Cantabria. Before that, he has also been Full Professor at University of Zaragoza (2003-2005) and Associate Professor at University of the Basque Country (1994-1995).
He holds a Ph.D in Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain (1992) and since then he has visited numerous research centers as a research fellow. Among them, the London School of Economics; the CORE (Center for Operations Research and Econometrics); Institute of Econometrics and Statistics, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin; Departamento de Economía, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid; Departement de Statistique et Probabilité, Université Paul Sabatier de Toulouse; and Institute of Econometrics and Economics, Université de Geneva. In addition, he has been director of the Regional Statistical Office of Cantabria (ICANE). Since already two years Dr. Rodriguez-Poo is the head of the Economics Department of the University of Cantabria.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Rodriguez-Poo has focused his research on nonparametric and semiparametric estimation methods, the modelization of the econometric analysis of individual behavior, and financial econometrics. Specifically, his publication of greater impact allowed the development of a new technique to analyze the relationship between economic variables. The results have been applied later in economics and finance and even in other science fields such as physics and biology.
He has published his works in several academic journals such as the Journal of Econometrics, Statistica Sinica, Econometric Reviews, Econometric Theory, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Test and Computational Statistics & Data Analysis, among others. Also, he has presented his research at a great deal of national and international professional conferences and academic institutions.
